Omenapiirakka – apple pie

Omenapiirakka on tottakai syksyn ehdoton suosikki, ja uskomattoman helppo tehdä. Tällä reseptillä ainakin onnistuu!

Ainekset (8-10 hlö)

4dl vehnäjauhoja
200g voita
1 dl sokeria
1 tl leivinjauhetta
1 muna
4-5 isohkoa omenaa
Kanelia
Sokeria

Kuumenna uuni 200 asteeseen. Leikkaa omenat siivuiksi. Tee murotaikina. Sekoita kuivat aineet. Sekoita huoneenlämpöinen voi ja sokeri vaahdoksi. Lisää muna. Lisää jauhoseos ja sekoita taikina tasaiseksi. Voitele piirakkavuoka ja taputtele taikina vuokaan. Kannattaa kostuttaa kädet, sillä muuten taikina voi tarttua.

Täytä pohja omenanpaloilla. Sitten ripottele kanelia ja sokeria piirakan pintaan. Paista 30 minuuttia uunin alaosassa.

Tarjoa vaniljakastikkeen kanssa.

The apple pie is a known dessert all over the world, and different countries have different traditions when it comes to this delicious pie. In my family, this pie is the absolute autumn favourite and very easy to make!

The pie is different in the sense that I usually make it with shortcrust pastry. Also, we do not usually cover the apples on top with anything, as opposed to the American and Dutch versions of the pie.

Ingredients (for 8-10 people)

4 dl wheat flour
200g of butter
1 dl sugar
1 tsp baking powder
1 egg
4-5 apples (depending on size)
Cinnamon
Sugar

Preheat the oven to 200°C. Cut the apples in slices and let them be for now. Make sure the butter is at room temperature, otherwise it won’t mix well. Mix the flour and baking powder. Mix the sugar and butter in a bowl into a foamy mixture. Add the egg and flour and mix well so that the pastry becomes even.

Next, butter the pie pan, and cover the inside with the pastry. You can do this by hand, although wetting your hands with cold water is a good idea, otherwise the pastry will stick.

Fill the bottom with apple slices. I usually make a circular pattern with the slices but one is allowed to use imagination with this step. Sprinkle cinnamon and sugar on top of the pie, and put it in the oven. Bake for about 30 minutes in the lower part of the oven.

Serve nicely warm with some vanilla sauce.
